SAE Projects

SAE stands for Supervised Agriculture Experience, which is a year round project made up of enterprises where one applies skills and knowledge taught in the agriculture classroom. There are four types of SAE projects from which a student may choose: Entrepreneurship, Placement, Agriscience Research and Experimentation, and Exploratory. As a first year member, it is not mandatory to have an SAE project, but many find them enjoyable enough to do one anyway.

In the Brawley FFA Chapter, the most common SAE project is raising livestock for the California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta. This project provides members with the opportunity to learn about leadership, responsibility, hard work, budgeting, and dedication. These skills are learned by performing many necessary actions to care for the animals.
